General Description of Work: As a band the Instigators are a four piece group consisting of drums, bass, guitar,harmonica, and vocals. The bands members all grew up or were born in Iowa so our family roots are here. The music that we play is strongly influenced by many styles of music. This is what gives us a truely unique sound with no denying that it is purely blues.
Bio: The band has been together for 14 years. In that time we have had the opportunity to observe, work with, interview, and perform with blues legends like Koko Taylor, B.B.King, David "Honeyboy" Edwards, Robert Jr. Lockwood, Albert Collins, Luther Allison, and many many more. Along with these great opportunities to learn from experience, I have done extensive research about blues music and its' roots and influences on music and society today. I have been the lead educator for the Linn County Blues Society's Blues In the Schools Program since 1994. I have done over 300 workshops on blues and blues influence.
Services Offered 1: Consultations: If you are planning an event and need assistance in formulating the plans for that event or just need some outside influence with some problem solving, I am here to assist in whatever way I can. 10 years of event development experience.
Services Offered 2: Workshops: I provide workshops on basic blues guitar, harmonica, and song writting. As well as basic blues history- where it came from to where I see it going.
Services Offered 3: Lectures: I try to shape the lecture to the event. I have lectured on Life as a working musician, Blues then and Now, Iowa Blues, and several other topics
Detailed Description of Performances: Choose from Solo, traditional blues & soul mellow but entertaining. or four piece band with high energy either show offering someting for everyone. Both shows intermingle original songs with classics always performed our way.
