General Description of Work: Pat Walke, a native of Preston, Iowa, performs old time traditional ballads and songs with clawhammer style banjo, autoharp and mountain dulcimer. Her repertoire includes American Pioneer historical songs and tunes. She specializes in Iowa history and the rural experiences of Iowa's early settlers, including barn dances and one-room schoolhouses.

Bio: Pat hosts the Sunday Parlor radio program on KROS, 1340 AM, Clinton, Iowa, which airs every Sunday evening. She writes reviews and articles for the Old Time Herald. Pat has performed all over Iowa in schools, libraries and living history events and re-enactments. She is the clawhammer banjo player in the duo Lost in the Weeds, which performs and plays for dances in the Quad Cities area.

Pat's day job is teaching general music K-6 and coordinating the technology at Sacred Heart School in Maquoketa.

Services Offered 1: A solo pioneer folk music performance with period costume of pioneer era or Civil War. Pat performs and plays period instruments and sings songs of the era. Libraries, schools, senior citizen programs, fairs, living history events and re-enactments, anywhere where a touch of the past is needed.

Services Offered 2: A Mountain Dulcimer Workshop. Pat provides 15 real wooden mountain dulcimers for hands-on learning. Fourth grade to adult. Smaller children may try, if accompanied by an adult. $150 per workshop which can be presented and taught in an hour. The sponsor needs to provide two cafeteria-sized lunch tables.

Services Offered 3: An old-time barn dance. Pat can provide a string band, sound system and a caller for two hours of pioneer fun. The sponsor needs to provide a wooden dance floor, adequate stage area, three-four chairs. The total fee is $400.

Performance fees, mileage charges, related to arts services: : $150 per performance, $150 per dulcimer workshop plus round-trip mileage at $.40 a mile. Pat can bring and set up her own sound system for an additional $25 fee. Contact Pat Walke for availability and other requirements.
